[FIC] Soulmates: Selene

Title: Soulmates: Selene
Characters: Eunhyuk, Jo Kwon, SJ, 2AM, OC
Rating: PG
Chaptercount: 11/22
Summary: One unexpected yet scheduled meeting brings with it the start of so much more.
A/N: The first story I wrote with Super Junior in it lol. I was a bit of a fan at that time and Hyukjae was the first member of Super Junior I knew. I gradually learned more about them as I wrote this story so if some things don't add up at all, don't blame me lol.

- - - - -

She had woken up the next day feeling a little under the weather, but not ten minutes later a phone call came from Hyukjae that he would have a lot of free time that day and that he had already booked her flight ticket. Her mood had risen immediately, making her smile and actually get up out of bed to do something. She had quickly grabbed her bag to dump some clean underwear in it and the other basic stuff you needed for a daytrip. She would fly to Korea that day and come back the next to prepare for work again. The where and how of her sleeping place in Korea would probably be arranged by Hyukjae as well.

When getting out of the car at the airport, her mood had reached the top level again, as she looked forward to seeing the guys again. Sadly enough Afreya would not accompany her, something she was sure Leeteuk would be disappointed about. She needed to have a good talk with that boy once. Boy, hah, he was older than her by seven years. Maybe she should show him some more respect.. Maybe if she showed him she was really serious he would listen. She would worry about that later. With a smile she walked around the car to pull her bag out of the trunk. Her mother immediately got out as well to accompany her.

“Oh, Selene, I still think it’s great you have this job and all, but it’s so hard to have to miss you all the time. Keep e-mailing me often so that I know you’re safe!” she said, stroking her daughter’s back. Selene rolled her eyes, but couldn’t help feeling grateful to have a mother who cared so much about her. That’s why she gave her mom a hug anyway.

“Mom, you know I’m just going to visit Hyukjae. It’s not work-related.” she meanwhile said. At first her mother hadn’t believed that she was dating Hyukjae. She had laughed when Selene told her and had started about how ridiculous it was and that idols weren’t allowed to date. Yet upon seeing how serious her daughter had stayed, she had soon realized it was all true and had immediately supported Selene for the full hundred percent. Something Selene had greatly appreciated.

“I know, musume, but I don’t think I’ll see you again tomorrow and then you will be off to work. So then it will be work keeping you from me.” She let go of her daughter, starting to walk towards the building. “But tell me, when will you finally introduce me to this Hyukjae of yours? You’ve been dating for a few months now. I think I can assume it’s serious business since you seem to be in Korea non-stop lately, so isn’t it getting time you introduce me to him so that I can judge if he’s the right guy for you?” Selene laughed together with her mother.

“As if you haven’t already judged about that. As long as he’s good to me, you judge him right.” she replied.

“So is he good to you?”

“No mom, he’s great to me. Even more than that, he’s wonderful! I want to marry him and get at least two children together. Then I will name them Daichi and Shouhei if they’re boys or Ayano and Misaki if they’re girls. Together with him I will go live in a nice little house somewhere in one of the nice areas of Korea where Donghae and Heechul will be our neighbours.”

“Wow.. You really put some time into planning your future together I see..”

“Not really. I just made it up on the spot.”

They laughed again, entering the building and going to the desk where she would have to get her ticket. She had gotten used already to getting a ticket that had been pre-paid. The people giving it to her always gave her a bit of a weird look, because it hardly ever happened, but she had never had any problems. This time everything went just fine as well. They still had about thirty minutes left before she would have to board, so she soon found herself sitting at a little table in one of the airport cafés with a cup of tea in front of her, staring into oblivion as her thoughts drifted to the last time she had been with Hyukjae.

“Selene!” someone suddenly woke her from her thoughts by calling out her name. She noticed her cup of tea was already empty. Somehow she must have drunk it while being lost in thoughts. A little smile appeared on her face thinking of the moment she had been standing in the hallway with Hyukjae, just holding each other. It had been not much, just an embrace, but she had felt so close to him and so happy. That was, of course, until the rest of the Super Junior babies came and ruined the moment. “Hey, girl! I’m talking to you! Earth calling Selene!” With a little shock she realized the reason she had been disturbed the first time was because someone called her name. She quickly looked up to look at her mother, surprised that she was using such language. It was only when she did that, that she noticed the two people who had joined their table.

“Well finally you’re giving us some attention! Did you run into that Ko Jon whatever dude again that you’re being so totally absent?” Kasumi called out, shaking her head in disapproval. Selene stared at her friend.

“Kasumi?” she mumbled, before turning to the other person. “Chinatsu?” Her brain was making huge efforts trying to find out the girls’ reason for being at the airport. “What are you doing here?” she finally asked, when no possible reason was found.

“Seeing you off, duh. You’ve become so dumb since you’re together with Eunhyuk. He must be a bad influence for you. Don’t you think Donghae would be better for you? At least there are some brains to be found in his head.” Chinatsu replied.

“Or maybe Sungmin. He’s got more brains than those other two combined.” Kasumi added.
Selene couldn’t help chuckling. Her friends had known Super Junior before she had met them and they were both quite biased. Chinatsu obviously liked Donghae best and Kasumi just couldn’t stop talking about how cute Sungmin really was and how sweet and oh and ah. Selene had wisely kept her mouth shut about the real personality of their idols, not wanting to break the girls’ image of perfection.

“I’m sorry, I was totally lost in thoughts. How great to see you two!” She finally managed to get out some decent words as she got up to hug her two friends. “But it’s kind of unusual. What brings you here?” she then added.

“Well Nat and I will be working tomorrow and we won’t be able to see you again before you leave for work again, so we decided to give you a surprise visit in the airport. We were lucky to have your mom cooperate with us so that we knew where to find you in this giant building. Don’t you ever get lost in all those airports and stuff?” Kasumi explained, sitting down on one of
the empty chairs, while Chinatsu occupied the other one. “And we brought some gifts.”

“Gifts? What for?” Selene replied surprised.

“Just because. We also brought something for Eunhyuk.” Chinatsu said.

“Really? That’s so nice of you. I’m sure he will appreciate it.” she replied.

The two girls looked at each other a moment before bursting out in soft giggles.

“Yah, I’m sure he’ll just love it to death.” Kasumi chuckled, adding the right dose of sarcasm as well. “He might even dump you and get together with us instead.”

“Oh.. Then maybe I should just throw it away or ‘forget’ it on the plane or something..”

“I wouldn’t do that if I were you. Someone else might find it and reveal your relationship to the world.”

Chinatsu’s words hit the right spot and Selene immediately fell silent, thereby admitting her defeat. Her friends laughed and got out a big bag they had apparently brought with them.

“There’s two big ones. One is for you, the other for Eunhyuk and then there’s fourteen smaller ones, those are for the others. The names are written on them, so you just have to pass them out, if you would be so kind.” Kasumi explained, showing the contents of the bag, without taking anything out of it. “We tried to keep it as little as possible so you could manage to take it along as hand baggage, but there were a lot of gifts so that didn’t really work out. If you have to pay more for this or something, we’ll pay you back later. Make sure that everyone, or at least the biggest group as possible, opens it at the same time.”

“Ok.” Selene said, not able to get anymore out. Things were happening too fast for her. She had gotten out of bed with a headache and the way things were evolving, she might just end up boarding the plane with a headache as well. Luckily that seemed to be the end of the girls’ speech.

“I think you have to go check in now, so we’ll be going back home.” Nat said, getting up again. “Have fun with Eunhyuk, say hi to the others for us and make sure that everyone gets the right gift. We carefully picked them for each member.”

“Apparently. You even thought of Henry and Zhou Mi.” Selene got up as well while talking to give both of her friends a hug. Bringing gifts for everyone was so much like them. She felt proud and glad to have friends like them.

“Of course.” Kasumi replied, still with the little hint of sarcasm in her voice. “We would never leave out Violin-hero Henry and Great-voice Zhou Mi!” Selene grinned when hearing their nicknames for the two boys. Kasumi and Chinatsu had given every member of Super Junior their own personal nickname after hearing Selene talk about them. Apart from those two Hyukjae had always been No-brain, whereas Donghae had gotten the name of No-brain-two because of his close friendship with the other. Leeteuk had simply been named Leader and sometimes Afreya-crush. The rest of them were Scary-face Kangin, Cute-fat Shindong who had had a few other nicknames before, but was now this one, Baby-face Ryeowook, Great-smile Kibum, Bad-temper Heechul, Chinesey Hangeng, Cute-face Sungmin and Weirdo Yesung. Siwon had unanimously been voted Sexy and the maknae Kyuhyun was called Anonymous because of the Intimate Note episodes that the two girls had watched at least ten times already.

“Thanks for helping us, okasan.” Kasumi said, as usual calling Selene’s mom ‘mother’ as well. After that she got out of the way so that Chinatsu could hug Selene too. After some more goodbye sayings the two really left and Selene stayed behind a little stunned. Her mother got up as well, having paid for their drinks.

“It’s time to go now, musume.” she said, picking up the bag that the two girls had just dropped off and setting off towards the gate. Selene quickly picked up her bag and caught up with her mother before she had taken four steps. “Very nice of your friends to get everyone gifts. I hope they didn’t spend too much money on them, though.”

“Even if they did, I’m sure the boys will treasure the presents. And if they didn’t intend to, I’ll make sure they do.” Selene smiled a little, picturing the image of the boys getting gifts. They would be as happy as little kids and whatever the girls had bought for them, they would surely love it. There was no doubt about that.

“Well I hope so, musume. Here you take the bag, you’ll have to go on alone over there.” Selene stopped to give her mother a hug first.

“I will miss you, okasan. Take good care of otasan for me. Make sure he eats enough and stays off the candy. I’ll e-mail you from time to time. Stay healthy.” she mumbled, feeling sad to have to say goodbye to her mother so soon already.

“I will musume. Don’t worry about your parents, we’re able to take care of ourselves. Don’t overwork yourself and don’t let them make you do things you don’t want to do. Just keep in mind; they need you, you don’t need them. You’re in the stronger position. No matter how famous these people are. I love you, musume.”

“Aishiteru okasan.”

She picked up the bag with gifts and set for the gate. After passing through, she turned to wave at her mother one last time before going to the right gate. There were only a few minutes left before boarding and by the time she reached the gate, those minutes had passed as well. There was no rush yet, however, and she calmly waited in the line. When she reached the stewardess who was checking their tickets, she smiled and handed over the ticket she had gotten a little before. The woman immediately made a ninety degrees bow.

“Welcome to Korean Air, miss. I hope you enjoy your flight.” she said, motioning one of the younger looking girls behind her to step forward. “This is Cho Hee, she will guide you to your seat and make sure your flight passes without any problems.” A little surprised because of this new treatment she looked at the girl who must be her age or maybe even younger.

“Can I take your bags, miss?” the girl asked, bowing politely. Selene looked at the bag with gifts she was carrying.

“Eh, no, it’s okay.” she replied, starting to get a little confused. Since when were Korean airlines this considerate and polite?

“Very well then.” the girl said, taking the lead as she walked down the hallway to the plane’s entrance. Selene followed, not knowing what to expect next. She was lead into the plane, through the aisles all the way to the back. It was only when the girl brought her into a different part of the plane that looked a lot like first class that she started to realize what was going on. Hyukjae must have booked her a first class flight, not caring about the costs. She felt a little annoyed yet happy because of the unexpected surprise. In the end the happiness won and a little smile appeared on her face. He was such a brainless romanticist.

With a little smile on her face she sat down in the chair appointed to her. She had noticed that a little further there were some other people, but that didn’t bother her. How could it? She was actually sitting in first class for the first time in her life, even though she had travelled very often. With a little euphoric feeling, she looked up at Cho Hee, only then realizing that the girl hadn’t left yet. The girl immediately bowed again, showing a great deal of politeness, which Selene had never experienced before.

“Is there anything else I can get you, miss?” Cho Hee asked with a polite smile. It was a very business-like expression that didn’t really feel sincere, but Selene didn’t mind at all. As long as the girl was nice it was an improvement on the normal treatment.

“No, thank you.” she replied.

“If there is anything you need, just press this button.” the girl pointed at a little button above the seat, that had ‘call personnel’ written on it. After Selene nodded, she finally left. With a satisfied feeling and a happy smile on her face, Selene made herself comfortable in the cosy chair, ready to close her eyes and get some more sleep. That’s when a much too familiar voice reached her.

“Selene?” She looked to her right where only moments before Cho Hee had stood. The place was now taken by Jo Kwon, his expression surprised, yet a smile on his face.

“Jo Kwon-ssi.” she said surprised, immediately sitting up straight again.

“It seems like we keep bumping into each other. Why didn’t you tell me you were going to Korea?” he asked on a very casual tone. He used informal language with her, something that baffled her, making her reply to his question without thinking.

“I didn’t know yet yesterday.”

“So you must have very rich and influencing clients..” he said, taking the seat across from her without even asking if it was okay. She gave him a little confused look.

“What? You mean that I’m in first class? You think I can’t afford a better quality flight from time to time?” The words had stirred her defensive side, making her get back to her old self a little. The sarcastic hint in her voice came almost naturally.

“Oh I don’t doubt that. But this isn’t first class. This part of the plane is especially for celebrities or people who don’t want to be seen in public. Normally there is only one group or person flying in this part at the same time. Somehow someone managed to convince our company of your trustworthiness. I was very surprised when I heard someone else would be sitting with us, but now that I know it’s you I feel like I should have been able to guess it.” he explained just as calmly as before. He smiled a little, seemingly happy to be talking with her.

“Well, don’t let me disturb your flight any further..” she immediately replied, getting back in the comfortable position and closing her eyes again. There came no reply, but she didn’t hear anyone moving either. When she opened an eye to check he was still sitting across from her, looking at her with a smile on his face. “Are you going to keep staring at me?” she asked, a little annoyed.

“That was the plan, yes.” he calmly replied. She felt her annoyance rise more and in a sudden copy of Heechul’s temper, she dropped the formal language when responding to his words.

“Ya, Jo Kwon-ah. Just go back to your seat. Some people like to have a calm flight.” Her outburst seemed to surprise yet amuse him at the same time.

“No need to get angry at me.” he said happily, not losing his smile for even a split second. “Would you like meeting the other members?” She gave him one look, before leaning to the right a little to watch the three people still sitting at the place he had come from.
