[FIC] Soulmates: Selene

Title: Soulmates: Selene
Characters: Eunhyuk, Jo Kwon, SJ, 2AM, OC
Rating: PG
Chaptercount: 8/22
Summary: One unexpected yet scheduled meeting brings with it the start of so much more.
A/N: The first story I wrote with Super Junior in it lol. I was a bit of a fan at that time and Hyukjae was the first member of Super Junior I knew. I gradually learned more about them as I wrote this story so if some things don't add up at all, don't blame me lol.

Selene stared at the wall, repeating the whole broadcast over and over in her head. She was furious. Hyukjae was such a complete moron turning his head so that she had actually kissed him. He should know what kind of scandal that would bring. He should know it would become something for the fans to complain and freak out about. He should know not to do it..

Being unable to let out her anger, she suddenly jumped up, thereby throwing down the chair she was sitting on. Without caring about anything, she just walked towards the wall and hit it a few times with all her strength. She couldn’t help flinching whenever her fist hit the hard stone wall, but she was too angry to care. That brainless fool. Ugh, if he were within her grasp she would grab him by the throat, push him against a wall and crush him! Or something like that.. Ok right, maybe not, but it was cool to imagine.

“Aish, you don’t seem to be in the best mood ever.” a voice suddenly said. She twirled around to see whoever came in, thereby coming face to face with Heechul. He calmly approached her, not caring about her strong gaze at all, and gave her a hug. She immediately pulled away. “Ya, be a little easy on me, I have only just arrived, it’s impossible for me to already have done something wrong to you.” he complained, as he grabbed her wrist. She shook her head with a sigh, but didn’t pull free a second time.

“Why are you here, Chulkun?” she asked, using her personal nickname for him to show that she would at least try not to get angry at him just because the person she was really angry at wasn’t around. He smiled upon hearing that name and pulled her towards him to hug her after all. She was one of the few people who he allowed to give him weird nicknames. Hangeng was one of the select others. There were maybe two or three apart from them, but that was it.

From the start on she and Heechul had been able to get along really well. He normally didn’t like new people and Hyukjae had told her that in the beginning of his love for her, Heechul had been the only one to strongly object against them dating, but once they were introduced to each other, there had been a connection between them. He had easily accepted her and had promised he wouldn’t tell anyone about her. From then on they had created a close friendship in which he had eventually included Afreya too.

“I came here with the car that’s picking up the other members, because I was bored at home.” he replied, after only a moment of hesitation adding: “And secretly I was looking forward to seeing you again and couldn’t wait to see if you would come to our dorm later on.” She smiled a little. “So what are you so upset about?” he then asked, and her anger immediately burned great again.

“That stupid little piece of a jealous moron..” she started, but she was immediately interrupted by Heechul, who put his fingers on her lips to shut her up.

“Even though I do not know for sure who you are talking about, I do have a slight idea who this person might be, but still.. He is one of my members so I don’t want to hear you talk so badly about him. I’m sure his clumsiness wasn’t that bad and you might regret saying these things later on when e..” he calmly explained, but she cut him off by pulling her head away from his hand and saying: “He made me kiss him!” Heechul’s grip lessened and he stared at her. “He did what!? That stupid little piece of a moron!” She nodded in agreement.

“We were talking about who I liked best in Super Junior, whole talk, anyway, I ‘made him sad’ by saying I actually liked Hangeng better but for his feelings just acting as if I liked Hyukjae best, so then Ho Dong told me to comfort him. Hyukjae asked me to kiss him on his cheek as proof that I really like him best. After confirming if it was allowed I did so, only he turned his head right before so I kind of kissed him on his mouth. Does he know how many angry fans I’m going to have chasing me around!?” she explained so quickly that she had to take a deep breath at the end.

“Now, don’t be so worried. This kind of thing happens a lot on variety shows. Especially on Star King. About a year ago he had a girl fully kissing him on the mouth, she didn’t get killed by jealous fans either. In fact, since he turned his head while you were just planning on kissing him on his cheek, they’ll see that it’s all his doing, so no one will be hunting you or something. You should get a little less worried about all this fans obsessing over us. They’ve become really calm lately.” Heechul comforted her, but it didn’t have much effect.

Right at that moment, the door opened and the Super Junior members entered. Selene immediately turned away from Heechul to assault Hyukjae. He was the first to enter so she had a good chance. Even though she had thought it only imaginable, she did actually grab him by his throat and she did actually drag him to a wall, but only because he was so surprised and shocked by her anger that he followed along. Once he was standing with his back against the wall, she hit his head.

“Are you out of your mind!?” she started off, not even yelling, but hissing the words through her teeth. He stared at her in shock, with the blank expression on his face that showed his utter ignorance of what exactly was going on. “You’re such an idiot!” she sighed, letting go of him as she turned away. Someone chuckled, not even trying to muffle the sound.

“You sound a lot like my mother when you do that.” Heechul bluntly told her. She pointed her fiery eyes on him.

“And you look a lot like my gay uncle, but I don’t tell you that right in your face either, do I? So why don’t you just go and annoy someone else.” she exploded. There were hands on her arms immediately, pulling her away from Heechul whose expression had immediately become a lot less happy. Hangeng was already by his side, holding his friend’s shoulders and trying to push him away from her. She shook off the hands holding her, to turn around and give Hyukjae another furious look. “Oh please, now you’re getting worried? It’s not because you piss your pants whenever Heechul as much as raises an eyebrow that I’m just as much of a characterless being as you are.” she spat. The chuckling sounded again.

“Did I tell you yet how much I like her?” Heechul asked, obviously pointing the question to Hyukjae. “She’s one in a million, Hyukkie, I wonder how you out of all people were the one to end up with her.”

There was a long moment of a very tense silence, before Selene turned around, grinning widely as she walked towards Heechul. The two hugged, patting each other’s back before letting go again. He smiled at her as she looked up, which made her smile back. After that she turned to Hangeng, who was still standing next to his friend, being careful, but obviously much less worried about a possible anger outburst from Heechul. She gave him a hug as well, mumbling a short ‘sorry’ to him before letting go again.

When she turned around to the other three guys, she saw that Hyukjae was still staring at her, the blank expression hadn’t left yet. The other two were just looking at her like they would look at any other person. She walked towards Leeteuk and bowed, while saying sorry to him as well. He smiled, reassuring her it didn’t matter. Before she could say sorry to Shindong as well, he had already told her it was okay. It was nice when people knew you that well and when they just accepted you for who you were. She turned to Hyukjae.

“I’m sorry.” he mumbled, before she could say anything, but she knew he had no idea what he was apologizing for. Yet..

“Next time you want me to come to a little variety show because it’s ‘oh so much fun’ and would be ‘great publicity for me,’ make sure you’re not around. Do you have any idea how many camera’s will have caught me kissing you? Do you have any idea how many of your fans will see this? Do you ever think before you do something?” she said. She had lost most of her anger, so her words were said to him in a calm tone, but she showed no sign of a smile to reassure him her worst anger was over. “Oh, I’m sorry. I forgot this thing is empty.” She softly tapped his head again with her hand, giving him one more look, before simply walking out the room to go and find Afreya somewhere.

She didn’t find her friend all that fast, but she did find Jo Kwon. He smiled at her as he approached her and she bowed slightly. While walking passed him, she had to lock her arms in place to keep herself from suddenly hugging him. Where the urge came from, she didn’t know, but it seemed a normal thing for her to do. Luckily her attention was shifted when a door opened in front of her, about five steps away from where she was standing, and Afreya walked out into the hallway.

“Oh, here you are!” Selene immediately said in Japanese, starting to smile. “I was looking for you.” It was quite a surprise for her to see Nickhun walk out of the room after Afreya, but she didn’t want to show it, so she simply smiled at him and bowed. He smiled back as he bowed his head in a returned greeting. “I think our taxi will arrive soon, so we’ll have to go then.” she calmly continued after that, looking back at Afreya again.

“Did you talk to Eunhyuk?” was the only thing her friend asked. She nodded, not showing any emotion. “Are we going to visit the boys’ dorm today?” She nodded again, but still didn’t show anything but a serious expression. Afreya sighed. “I talked too much. He knows.” she softly said, pointing at Nickhun. Selene immediately looked up at the guy, trying to find out his intention by just looking at him.

“You’re going to never tell anyone about this, right?” she then calmly asked, using Thai again. He smiled and shook his head. She smiled back. “Thank you.” He and Afreya shared a look, where he pulled up an eyebrow before smiling. Was smiling all this guy ever did?

“She’s always this calm when she has just gotten angry. I’m a little afraid for Eunhyuk’s life now. We should go check up on him probably.” Afreya then explained to him in English. Selene made a hissing sound at the very mention of Hyukjae’s name, but she didn’t say anything anymore when the two turned to look at her. In the end, she just grumbled before turning around and walking back to the room she had come from. In her mind, she was already being stalked by anti-fans and getting lots of threat letters.

It was about two hours later when the door was opened for them to enter the boys’ dorm. Different from usual times, they were on the twelfth floor, while Hyukjae lived on the eleventh. They had gone there on purpose, because Selene was still refusing to even look at Hyukjae. It wasn’t like he had made any move whatsoever to approach her either. He was probably too scared. Peeing in his pants downstairs at the mere sound of her voice or something. The thought brought a smile on her face, surprising Hangeng who had let them in. He gave her a little nudge, pulling op an eyebrow in a questioning expression. She chuckled as she lightly shook her head to indicate it was no big deal.

The first thing she did while Afreya calmly found herself a place to sit, was run straight to Heechul and assault him with a hug. Since he was sitting on the ground, he fell backwards because of the strength of her attack, but she made sure that he didn’t hit his head on the ground. He made a few annoyed sounds, but soon shut up when all he seemed to reach with it was being hugged even tighter. When she finally let go of him to stand up again, he seemed a little disappointed. She chuckled, ruffling through his hair with her hand. He let out a shriek in protest, but she was way out of reach already when he threw out his arms to hit her.

As she made her way to the couch to sit down next to her, Leeteuk came to bring each of them a cup of tea. They accepted it, saying a polite ‘thank you’ and smelling the herbal scent. Selene had regained all her calmness again, so there was a little relaxed smile on her face. Her attitude seemed to have reassured the boys that everything was alright, so the conversations continued and everyone went back to doing what they had been doing before. The girls had already become a regular guest, so everyone had gotten used to them and they easily blended into the daily life of the boys when they were in their dorms.

Hangeng, who seemed to suddenly like her a lot since the Star King show, came to sit next to her, something he had never done before. She gave him a little surprised look, but didn’t ask any questions. What she liked most was just sitting in the boys’ couch with a cup of tea and silently listening to their conversations or simply observing them as they all went their own way. When the door opened again she looked up to see Sungmin enter. He immediately said hi upon seeing them and they answered just as kindly. Selene was surprised to see Donghae come in after him. Normally the boy would be comforting Hyukjae or just keeping him company whenever she had gotten into a fight with him. Today was the first day that he didn’t show up together with Hyukjae. She wondered why, but again didn’t ask. She just smiled at Donghae and bowed her head as a greeting. He said hi as well, but only smiled at Afreya. It was only minutes later that the door opened again, revealing Hyukjae. He didn’t enter, he didn’t say hi, he didn’t smile, he just looked straight at her.

“Selene, come with me for a moment, please.” he said, but it obviously wasn’t a question. He used very informal language, which surprised her as it was one of the few times he spoke to her like that. Without any second thoughts, she got up and walked towards him, still holding the cup of tea. An almost unnoticeable raise of his eyebrows was the only sign of surprise he showed, but she immediately realized he hadn’t expected her to listen. That thought pleased her a little. The little smile didn’t leave her face, nor did she suddenly feel anxious or annoyed. She was completely relaxed as she closed the door behind her, noticing how Hangeng gave her a reassuring smile right before he went out of view.

With a little shake of her head, she turned to Hyukjae, not knowing what his plan was. He was already looking at her and sighed when their eyes met. She calmly took a sip from her tea, tasting its rich flavour and feeling how the bitter drink was exactly the right temperature. Not too hot, but not too cold either. Leeteuk had even been sensible enough to add a bit of honey. Well, maybe a bunch of honey was a better way of saying it. She smiled a little wider. Hyukjae had been looking at her the whole time, but now took a deep breath, preparing to talk. She immediately fixed her eyes on him.
