Title: Memories
Characters: Super Junior
Rating: R
Chaptercount: 3/26
Summary: Fifteen people try to find the memories they forgot - or maybe they're just looking for each other.
A/N: A fic written on a hunch. One day I thought; "Super Junior. And vampires. This calls for a fic!" and well.. Here we are? Memories is one of the stories that I'm proud of, despite its sometimes messy storyline. It's also a story that won't be fully understood until you've read it completely. Things will be very confusing as you read, but will also get explained in future chapters. Be warned.

Jongwoon felt his heart ache having his friend cry in his arms like he did, but he could do nothing about it. He could only imagine what it must feel like for Kyuhyun to find out about the life before his vampire life that he had forgotten about for so long. It had been fifteen years now since Kyuhyun died, being the sixth of the Super Junior members to get killed.
Youngwoon had been the first. He died when he was still in the army, training. It had been an accident, they said back then. He had been jogging uphill with his team and he had tripped somehow and tumbled all the way down. No one had ever seen his body after that. Next had been Jungsoo, Hyukjae and Shindong, merely months later. As they had come back from the first Strong Heart recording they had done after Youngwoon’s dead, someone had crashed into their car, making it fly up in the air and tumble over the edge of the bridge they had been driving on. The car wreck was lifted out of the river, but their bodies remained unfound. Donghae had disappeared the same night, leaving a note that said he couldn’t live on without his best friend and the one he had always seen as his second father.
After that, they had all split up, had decided to each go their separate ways. One by one, Jongwoon had gotten news of the death of the other members. Apart from Youngwoon, they had all died or simply disappeared in the span of a year after the accident the three had been in, Henry being the last to be found in a forest, a strange wound at his side that had caused him to bleed to death. His body had disappeared from the mortuary the night after they had put him there, however, but no one had ever caught the thief. Nor had anyone ever found even the slightest trace of who the killer might have been.
Jongwoon had lived in fear for his own life for about a year, before realising that no one was going to come after him and take him as well. The car accident causing his death about ten years ago had been his own damn fault, not having seen in time that there was a truck having lost its grip on the slippery road coming straight for his car. The next thing he knew, they were sent flying through the air and his head smacked against the roof of the car as they landed against the wall of some nearby house. He had woken up in an alley an undefined amount of time later, with Kyuhyun next to him. He had no idea what had happened to his wife, who had sat next to him in the car, and he had also never seen her again, so he assumed she had died, however painful that thought might have been, and still was.

Donghae had watched the newcomer in surprise when he burst through the door and immediately jumped out of the sunlight, but when the stranger quickly rushed towards the window, he felt the need to say something or stop this person who seemed to be set on going somewhere. Hyukjae was faster than him, however, taking a step forward right as the stranger seemed to want to slam the window or something.
“The only way out is the same way as how you came in.” he spoke, sounding rather calm. “Don’t bother trying to get out from here, the security is crazy on the fields. If you get different clothes and take the front door, no one will give you a second look. People come and go there all the time during day.” He showed a slight smile, making the stranger frown suspiciously. Donghae merely stared at Hyukjae in awe, wondering how he knew so much. The stranger seemed to share that question.
“And you would know about that how?” he asked with the suspicion clearly noticeable in his voice. “For all I know you’re one of them and are set on showing me the way straight back into being caught.” He hissed at the last words, making it obvious how much he liked his so called visit to the hospital; or whatever it was that they were kept in.
“I am not the vampire who can walk in sunlight without getting burned.” Hyukjae said calmly, lifting a hand and holding his finger in the sunlight shortly, before quickly pulling back, before that part of his body could be reduced to ashes. He then cocked his head to the side a little. “I know because somehow the trick they use to erase memories didn’t work on me. I simply pretended like it did so that I could look around here without being under such close guard as most of the newcomers are. However, this Chinese guy is creating a nice commotion, so if you want I can show you the way out.” His eyes wandered to the window a moment and Donghae almost felt sorry for the other vampire when he saw the longing in his eyes as he stared at the world outside for that short moment. “I’m afraid I can’t go any further than the front door, though.”
There was another silence in which the stranger seemed to be thinking about his options, glancing outside the window once more, before turning back to them. “Fine. Alright. Show me the clothes and the front door, but be fast about it.” He closed his eyes a moment and sighed deeply, as if calming himself down. “Aish.. Well.. Thanks for wanting to help. My name is Youngwoon.”

Kyuhyun finally managed to get control over himself again and slowly looked up at his hyung. The red in his eyes had completely disappeared, showing a glimpse of the soft brown colour they used to have during his life. He sighed softly, before slowly sitting up straight and creating a distance between his hyung and himself again. He averted his eyes to the ground for a while, feeling the other’s gaze on him, but not responding to it. In the end, he managed to choke out a few words, the only thing he knew to say now and some kind of failed attempt at a joke.
“So you actually managed to find someone who wanted to marry you, huh?” He tried to put the right amount of amusement and teasing in his voice, but it still was a little strained. However, Jongwoon started laughing softly, taking a moment before reaching out and slapping the back of his head. He rubbed it with a frown and looked up at the other. “That hurts you know.” he complained, but there was a slight smile on his face as well and the elder merely chuckled.
“Yes, I found someone willing to marry me.” he then told Kyuhyun. “We met.. Well you know it all, right?” His face seemed to lighten up as he was thinking about the whole process of meeting, falling in love with and marrying his wife, but just like in Kyuhyun’s mind, the memory of the car accident soon fought its way to the surface and Jongwoon’s expression became a lot less shiny when it did. For a moment the two of them shared the feeling of loss together, before Kyuhyun decided that mourning wouldn’t get them anywhere.
“We have to get moving, hyung. You need more blood and we can’t stay in this place for too long, there are night policemen walking around everywhere, keeping beggars and thieves out of these streets.” he therefore told the other, getting up already and reaching out a hand towards his hyung. “Let’s get the hell out of here and do something with the information you just gave me.”
“What do you mean?” Jongwoon asked surprised as he got up as well and looked around, sniffing the air to find a nice direction to go for their hunt. Mere seconds later, he had already set off, leaving Kyuhyun no other choice but to speed up and catch up with his friend.
“I mean.. You showed me all of us died but were never found again. You are here. I am here. I have seen this vampire that is apparently a friend of ours, Park Jungsoo, before. Does this mean we all got changed? Does this mean all of us still walk around on this world somewhere?” His words seemed to make Jongwoon think, for the elder frowned and hesitated a moment before running on, nodding in agreement. Suddenly another memory that he hadn’t noticed before jumped up to his attention and Kyuhyun gasped for air, stopping dead in his tracks as he looked up at the other. Jongwoon cocked his head to the side a little, expression questioning.
“She is your daughter.” Kyuhyun then uttered.

Youngwoon followed the other two as fast as he could. At first, Hyukjae had seemed to possess some amazing speed, because he flashed through the hallways as if it were nothing, but soon Youngwoon had discovered that he could keep up with the other without any difficulties. That had made him dig up the little bit of memories he had left from his life before the facility and the moment he had cleared all doubt inside of himself about him really being a vampire, he had suddenly felt his two sharp teeth return, causing him to bite on his own tongue and taste blood. The metallic taste had spiked his hunger and he now felt more than ready to jump the first person that got in their way.
He didn’t know what the third vampire, Donghae, was intend on doing once they got out, but he figured the two of them would have to figure out together where they were before they would be able to part ways. His thoughts got interrupted somewhere in the middle of this process when they reached the room where they found different clothes. He saw Donghae quickly scoot through the layers of pants, T-shirts and sweaters, picking out a few pieces of clothing that smelled the least bad. By the time he was done, Youngwoon himself was still trying to find something that would fit him. Hyukjae snorted amused, pulled out a few random clothes and basically threw them in the other’s face.
“Wear this.” he said, right as the door opened. Immediately the three of them froze in their movements and both Youngwoon and Donghae ducked down to be as least noticeable as possible. Hyukjae, however, seemed to be completely relaxed, not even flinching when someone called out his name in a questioning tone. Instead of replying to the voice, he turned to Youngwoon and reached out his arm. “Bite.” he mouthed. There was a short hesitation in the elder as he looked from the hand in front of him to the face of the owner, before he lowered his head and sank his teeth in the flesh of the other, not really sure himself why he was listening to this stranger.
The moment he tasted blood, a select group of images and sounds suddenly resounded in his head and he realised with a shock that the other vampire was sharing his memories with him in a very secluded and controlled way. He knew the exact way to the exit now and knew exactly the things they had to say to be able to get out without looking suspicious. Yet drinking the other’s blood had made him realise his own hunger once again and it was only when someone slapped his head that he let go of Hyukjae’s arm and looked up in shock. The other merely smiled an amused smile at him, before getting up again.
“I suggest you hunt the moment you’re outside of these walls.” he then whispered, flashing a wide gummy smile their way that revealed his own set of sharp teeth, before turning away and walking towards the entrance of the room. “Yes, Sang Mi, I’m coming.” he called out. Youngwoon could just see him drape his arm around a girl’s shoulder and walking out of the room with her, leaving the door slightly ajar.
