Title: Memories
Characters: Super Junior
Rating: R
Chaptercount: 10/26
Summary: Fifteen people try to find the memories they forgot - or maybe they're just looking for each other.
A/N: A fic written on a hunch. One day I thought; "Super Junior. And vampires. This calls for a fic!" and well.. Here we are? Memories is one of the stories that I'm proud of, despite its sometimes messy storyline. It's also a story that won't be fully understood until you've read it completely. Things will be very confusing as you read, but will also get explained in future chapters. Be warned.

“Sir? Could you step aside please?” someone asked and he slowly looked up, peering into the light, seeing nothing out of the ordinary. He stepped aside anyway, moving to the side he thought would be the safest. Suddenly a smiling face popped up. “Sorry about that.” the woman spoke again. “This car had to pass. Are you alright? You look a little lost … and pale. “she then continued. He smiled, trying to look reassuring. The woman seemed genuinely concerned, however, as she didn’t move away. He decided to answer then.
“Yes, I’m fine, thank you for your concern.” he retorted, sighing slightly. “I was just lost in thoughts.” He nodded at her politely, before walking off, leaving the lady behind. What he didn’t see was the eyes lighting up with interest and the stranger following him as he made his way through the crowd. At least that’s what he wanted them to believe.
When he slipped into the next alley, he hid behind a set of barrels, watching both the woman and her companion slip past. He then quickly exited the alley again, casually walking through the big crowd of people and making his way back to the hostel he was staying at. It didn’t take him long to get up to his room, using the always deserted stairs so he could speed up a little. Once he arrived in his room, he kicked his companion out of bed.
“We have to go, Dangbong. They found us.” he explained the situation. He grabbed the bag with the few belongings they had as the younger one crawled up, immediately wide awake after hearing the warning. Scrambling to get their stuff together, they set for the door. They didn’t make it any further than that, however, because the moment he pulled it open, they came face to face with a dangerously smiling man.
“Well, well.. What do we have here? Both of my preys trapped in a room for me. How nice of you to take me here, daywelp.” the vampire blocking his way sneered. Even before he could respond, his companion moved as in a flash, right before a pair of fangs sank into his neck. There was a surge of panic going through him, a feeling of falling, and then it all momentarily turned black. The first thing he saw when his vision cleared was the vampire who had just taken sirehood over him. The next was Daehong with his fangs halfway in the other’s shoulder.
“Give up sirehood on my hyung.” his companion ordered, but the small stranger just laughed.
“The only way that can be done is out of my own free will, when I die or when someone else takes it.” he then said, making Youngwoon smile sourly. Great. Just great, really. Right then, the all too familiar woman and her male companion appeared in the door opening too. Youngwoon growled in alarm, to which his younger friend immediately ordered their new catch to save them.
In a matter of moments, the two newcomers were eliminated, dissolving like they were burned by the sun. Both Youngwoon and Dongbang stared at them. “How did you do that?” the latter asked, and the stranger snorted.
“It’s only a matter of pulling the right strings.” he retorted, grinning evilly. He jumped then, and immediately Dangsong yelled a “Don’t do that!” For a moment the stranger seemed to halt in his movements, before he completed his jump, grabbing his new sire’s throat with a wicked grin.
“Ryeowook! Stop it!” a voice suddenly yelled, and to everyone’s surprise, the small vampire stopped indeed, looking up with a bewildered expression on his face.

Kyuhyun was slightly unsure of where they were going. Jongwoon was obviously stalking a girl again – an ugly one at that – and he was pretty sure it was not one of his hyung’s daughter’s this time, since he only had one. They ran for a while until Jongwoon suddenly stopped, cursed and slipped behind a fruit stand, seemingly looking at the fruit. Kyuhyun wasn’t as smart and just remained standing in the middle of the street, so the next moment someone bumped into him.
For a while he stared blindly at the one who had almost knocked him over, but then his mind pulled that face from his memories and recognition swept through him. He noticed then the fact that the other was walking freely in the sun, but his surprised exclamation got smothered when Jongwoon pulled him aside, covering his mouth. His old friend passed by without as much as an apology and all he could do was stare at the furious Jongwoon.
“Are you crazy?” the elder hissed to him, trained hands fixing his hoodie and hat to keep the sun from reaching his skin. “Do you want to die?” They stared into each other’s eyes for a moment, until Jongwoon turned away, scanning the surroundings and suddenly setting off again. Kyuhyun followed, not sure who they were hunting after that time. Moments later he suddenly saw a flash of the girl they had seen before, slipping into a different street. He realised then that Jongwoon paid more attention than it seemed. A moment later he realised that he knew that already.
“We don’t have much time. Make sure no one sees you and go up.” the elder suddenly commanded, snapping him out of his daze. He felt his body complying to the order while his mind was still questioning why, but once he was up on the roof of the house he realised they were going to follow the girl from up there.
The chase continued indeed. The girl was pretty fast, soon joined by a male companion. They followed her from a good distance, tracking her down like hunters on a prey. She was too busy following something herself to notice them behind her. The young man did look back every now and then, but since they were up on the roof, they easily stayed out of sight. Suddenly the pair walked into a building. Kyuhyun and Jongwoon slipped down when no one was around, entering the hotel like any other customer would.
It was a small hotel, nothing too fancy. They were right in time to see the girl disappearing into an elevator, the boy already in it. For a moment time seemed to freeze when Kyuhyun’s eyes locked with the other young man’s, but then the elevator doors closed and the moment was gone. He rushed forward, only to once again be held back by Jongwoon, who slowly walked up to the elevator instead of rushing like he had wanted to do.
“Stop thinking with your gamer instinct, start using your intelligence.” the advice came, Jongwoon’s voice a little too low to be carefree. One look at him made it clear why; Jongwoon was losing control over his instincts, his eyes already flaring a faint red. Suddenly Kyuhyun realised the other hadn’t fed for a long time now. It was a surprise Jongwoon had been able to keep up for so long in the middle of the crowds they had been making their way through for the past few hours.
Yet Jongwoon didn’t allow him to make a comment about it, stopping in front of the elevator and looking up at the counter that showed which floor it was on. Moments later Kyuhyun was pulled along towards the staircase, Jongwoon telling him the elevator had stopped at the fifth floor and that they would have to rush up. He followed along without getting time to think, his body following the orders even if his mind protested against them. When they reached the fifth floor moments later, Jongwoon rushed towards the open door a few metres away from him, stopping dead in his tracks once he could see what went on inside.
“Ryeowook! Stop it!” he called out. Kyuhyun reached the door as well right then, looking in to come face to face with three all too familiar people.

The lights were bright, hurting his eyes and making the hairs at the back of his neck stand up. He had grown used to them long ago, however, ignoring his instinct that told him to get out of bright lights. It was true that they resembled sunlight quite a lot, but resembling wasn’t the same as actually being, so he was fine with standing in this light. So far he hadn’t been burned yet, he saw that as proof enough.
Yet the light was not the only thing bothering him. There was something else bothering him, something lingering at the edge of his consciousness, something that was trying to lure him away from his job, his current living place and move somewhere north. He was not exactly sure why that feeling kept bugging him, but since it had been that way for the past few weeks now, he had cleared his schedule for the next month, having planned a trip to wherever it was he would be going if he followed this instinct.
Once the shoot was over, he greeted the staff politely, flashing a smile in their direction and then leaving. He decided to not take the bus for once, but just walk home, which brought him there faster anyway. Luckily he never went out without a cap, a facial mask, a long coat and leather gloves. It did probably look suspicious at times, but at least he could go for a walk whenever he wanted to without burning up instantly if the sun was shining.
He reached the apartment complex quite easily, not bothering to take the elevator but rushing up to the highest floor in a heartbeat. It wasn’t hard to pick things he’d take with him and things he’d leave behind, because everything he had that was of any value basically fit together in a backpack half the size of the one he had bought.
The amount of time it took for him was surprisingly little still, and he figured if he was done so quickly, he could get a snack first. He walked up to the fridge, pulling it open and slipping out a blood pack. He settled down in his couch, after so long finally letting his fangs lengthen again and ripping the plastic in a blink. The next moment the red liquid found its way down his throat, soothing his aching thirst – at least for the time being.
When he was done, he went to the fridge again, taking out his remaining blood packs and filling up the rest of his backpack with them. It would be a long travel and he would surely come across places where he wouldn’t be able to feed, so then those things would come in handy. It was going to be a hard few days from now on. He was pretty sure that wherever this gut feeling was going to take him, it wouldn’t be some place nice. If anything, he might even end up in the least nice place in the world. Dealing with other vampires had never been his forte.
He sighed, throwing the backpack over his shoulder and calmly walking up to the door. He threw on some coat that had long enough sleeves for his hands to disappear in as well and grabbed a cap in order to shield his face from the sun. He had been doing this for so long it felt as if he wouldn’t burn up even if he showed his face. The few select memories of exposing himself to sunlight did nothing to strengthen that belief, however. The sun was a bitch and it hurt. He mumbled something, then pulled open the door, only to come face to face with a widely grinning vampire – his fangs clearly visible.
“Well hello there, Kibum.” the other said and he felt the urge to run away – fast.

“Shin Donghee!” someone called him, making him turn around and look up. The boss was there, motioning something as if trying to make him look in a different direction. A young man and woman were standing next to him, looking at him intently. He frowned slightly, but then end a questioning look at his boss. There was more motioning and some speaking too, but he couldn’t quite get it over the music that had started. He was not allowed to leave his position, so instead he motioned his boss to come over to him. That had a shaking of a head as a reply and Donghee cursed the moment his boss decided to get afraid of him. Luckily the scared man sent the other two over, because apparently they had some business with him.
“Donghee-ssi.” the man greeted him once the two reached him, whereas the woman only sent him a slight smile. “My name is Hangeng, this is Li Yin.” He reached out a hand which Donghee gladly took, gentle as always with the human kind. Yet this man’s handshake was surprisingly solid. There must have been a lot of strength hiding inside that small frame. For a moment he held the hand gently in his, before letting go, looking at the woman shortly then and nodding. She smiled a little wider, which sent a chill down his spine.
“Is there anything I can help you with?” he asked politely, clasping his hands behind his back and taking up his usual position again. There were people slipping past the group of three and even though they probably thought he wasn’t paying attention, he knew every single one of them. The moment someone new would come in, he’d stop them to see identification. Yet his mind was taken away from the customers when the woman’s smile widened a little more and he saw something he wasn’t supposed to see.
“What do you want?” he hissed then, his voice completely having lost its politeness and nothing more than a hiss now. The man merely smiled as well.
“Are you familiar with a group called Super Junior? They were active about fifteen years ago.” he then spoke and Donghee didn’t keep himself from giving the other an annoyed glare.
“You’re one of those freaky things that call themselves ELF?” he countered, annoyance evident in his voice. Hangeng raised his eyebrows in question at that. “I’ve had many people asking me that. They all say I look like one of them, but I’m not. I haven’t ever sung a note in my life. I’m a bouncer, I throw out people who make a fuss in the club and that’s it. Now if you would excuse me, I have a job to do. Please get out of the way of the customers.”
Hangeng sighed, but stepped outside anyway, clearing the doorway for the line of people that were slowly trickling in. “I’d like to talk to you a little.” he then said, reaching out a business card that spelled his name and some contact details. “If that’s okay with you, I’d like you to call me when you get off work today. I’m sure there’s some things we can learn from each other.” There was a short silence in which they both eyed each other, not saying a word. Then Donghee relaxed his stance and turned to look at the line of customers again.
“I’m off late, whenever the last customer leaves. Somewhere around four or five am. You don’t want to be called out of bed, I’m sure.” he countered, but a soft chuckle made him look at them.
“Oh, don’t worry about that. It won’t be any problem.” the man then stated, his grin wide enough to show off what only those who knew about it would see. Both of them were vampires, he realised with a start, but before he could react, they turned around and walked off. “I hope to hear from you soon, Donghee-ssi.” the man called over his shoulder, before they disappeared around the corner. For a moment longer Donghee stared after them, but then he reached out a hand, stopping a young guy from entering and easily pushing him out of the line.
“You’re too young to go in there, lad.” he stated, his voice obviously not allowing any contradiction.
