[FIC] The curse called Strawberry Milk

Title: The curse called Strawberry Milk
Characters: Eunhyuk, Donghae
Rating: G
Wordcount: 998
Summary: Eunhyuk needs strawberry milk. Now.
A/N: I wrote this on a nice evening when I was bored, some time in March 2010. This is what happens when I have just stumbled into a fandom and have too much inspiration for the silliest stories. A little side appearance from Leeteuk and Donghae, but if you blink in a wrong moment you might miss them. This is my love for Hyukjae in lines and paragraphs with his name and the words "Strawberry Milk" all over. Enjoy. :D

Eunhyuk loved strawberry milk. He started his morning with drinking a glass, finished his breakfast with drinking a glass, got ready for leaving by drinking a glass, celebrated his return to the dorm by drinking a glass, spent his free time drinking a glass, ended his lunch with drinking a glass, started practice by drinking a glass, ended practice by drinking a glass, watched TV while drinking a glass, went to bed after drinking a glass and got up the next morning to do the exact same thing.

But one day, Eunhyuk woke up to find that there was no more Strawberry Milk. Imagine his horror when he opened the fridge only to notice the obvious absence of his dearest bottle of the most heavenly drink one could imagine. He inspected every little corner of the kitchen, sweeping through every cupboard he saw, but couldn’t find a single bottle of this precious liquid of the gods. Even after going up to the 12th dorm and searching every room there as well, he remained empty handed. With that heartbreaking discovery, he had no other choice but to set off on a mission to buy a new bottle.

Of course he could tell one of the noonas to also bring his normal supply of 12 bottles when they went to buy the groceries later that day, but he really, really, really wanted a glass of it with his breakfast, so he would have to go and buy it himself. After quickly changing into his normal clothes, he told the only other awake member, Kyuhyun, who was already -or still- glued to his computer, that he was going out. He didn’t even wait for some kind of answer, for he knew it wouldn’t come.

It had never happened before that he ran out of Strawberry Milk. The noonas checked his supply every day and kept it up to date all the time. He wondered why he had now come to the end of this normally everlasting stock. That’s when he remembered the noona who normally took care of his supply for him had called in sick the last few days, so no one took care of it. Muttering some complaints about the ‘bad idol service in this building,’ he walked to the first store he could remember that was the closest to the dorms.

Once he arrived there, however, he was told they had run out of Strawberry Milk and were only going to get a new load later that day. They kindly asked him to come back after lunch, promising him they would have it then. Unable to wait until noon for his morning dose, he politely thanked the owner of the store, before leaving the store to go find another one. As if to emphasize his bad luck, it started raining when he set foot out of the store, causing him to hesitate a moment as he didn’t bring his jacket.

Determined to find at least one bottle of Strawberry Milk before going home, however, Eunhyuk decided to continue his search. Yet no matter where he went, the stores were either closed or they didn’t sell his favourite pink drink. Until he walked into the last place he planned to search, soaking wet from the still pouring rain. Immediately when entering the store, he could see it standing on the shelves, as if a ray of sparkling sunlight was lighting up solely this last bottle. With a bright smile, he made his way towards it.

But he had not taken five steps when something blocked his way. Upon looking down, he noticed two girls staring at him in awe. One had a piece of paper and a pen in her hands, the other was getting her GSM out of her bag. He glanced up at the object of his longing that was standing only three meters away from him, taunting him with its presence. He barely managed to keep his composure in front of his fans, but in the end did look back at them and took the pen with a smile to give them an autograph and pose for a picture with them. When they -finally- left, he happily took the last three steps towards the shelves..yet nothing was there anymore.

Eunhyuk couldn’t believe his eyes. Immediately he started scanning the people in the store to see who had taken his bottle of delicious heavenly liquid. That’s when he spotted an old lady walking out of the store with the bottle in her hand and a dark-blue umbrella held up to protect her from the rain. In a matter of seconds he had commenced his chase, racing past the surprised two fans who had just gotten his autograph and barely avoiding an incoming customer as he rushed out the door, back into the rain. When he anxiously looked around the street, however, there was no sign anymore of the old lady.

Cold, wet and defeated he started his long way back home, still empty handed and the rain soaking him from head to toe. It was no surprise that he was shivering and silently cursing under his breath, insulting whoever was dumb enough to ever have invented rain. By the time he got home, he was already sneezing like crazy, making it obvious that he was going to end up with a cold before the day ended.

Immediately, the ever-worried Leeteuk made him change into a pair of warm, dry pyjamas before sending him to bed. As he lay there, covered by the thick blanket, Eunhyuk silently cursed the malicious Strawberry Milk for making him run around half the city only to end up sick. He promised himself to never drink another drop of the pink milk even if he would die from thirst. Right at that moment, his best friend entered, saying the most hated words ever.

“Hyukkie, I brought you some strawberry milk!”

In a matter of seconds, Eunhyuk’s pillow hit Donghae square in the face.
