Title: Soulmates: Selene
Characters: Eunhyuk, Jo Kwon, SJ, 2AM, OC
Rating: PG
Chaptercount: Epilogue
Summary: One unexpected yet scheduled meeting brings with it the start of so much more.
A/N: The first story I wrote with Super Junior in it lol. I was a bit of a fan at that time and Hyukjae was the first member of Super Junior I knew. I gradually learned more about them as I wrote this story so if some things don't add up at all, don't blame me lol.

Selene was stressing out. It was getting terribly late and she still had to prepare the boys’ food, but apparently they had run out of rice. How was she supposed to take decent care of those crazy boys when there wasn’t even rice in the house? Muttering some complaints to herself, she went outside to go ask for some rice next door. As she walked out the door, however, the surprisingly good weather immediately made her feel better and for a moment she had forgotten what she was doing outside. When it hit her again, she quickly set off to the neighbour’s door. She rang the bell, waiting a little impatient for her neighbour to open. When the door opened, however, it was not the person she had expected to see.

“Afreya? What are you doing here? I thought you were in Europe this week?” she said surprised, but immediately after that her face brightened. “Great to see you. It’s been too long! How have you been?” She hugged her friend and took a step back again. Afreya smiled a little, letting her eyes wander over Selene’s features as well.

“Ah, I’m just cleaning a bit. The Europe assignment has been cancelled, so I have a sudden lot of free time. That’s why I decided to come clean up the house. You know how much of a slob this guy can be.” she then replied. Selene nodded.

“I hear you.” she said with a sigh. “I know two others like them. You should be very happy that this one at least cleans up after himself a little. How is Hazel?”

About five years ago, the boys had all moved to their own houses. Selene had of course moved in with Hyukjae and for some reason, Leeteuk had decided to come live next door. Due to his still ongoing success in the past years, Afreya had still not decided to get together with him, that being the reason she was still living in her own house together with her adopted daughter. However, Selene was getting more and more convinced of the fact that it wouldn’t take much longer anymore for her friend to move in with Leeteuk. The two of them just really loved each other way too much.

“She’s doing fine.” Afreya smiled when she said it, thinking about her little daughter. “Keeps asking me about papa Jungsoo.” Selene noticed the sparkle in Afreya’s eyes when she said ‘papa Jungsoo’ and had to hide a smile with a cough. “How are the boys?”

“They’re doing fine as well. Being their normal selves.” Selene smiled thinking about the two. “Kwon has just found out how to make people angry by colouring walls with his markers and Dongjae is starting to learn how to play the piano now. He can already play ‘Slam my hand on the keys so it makes funny noises’ and ‘Keep on hitting the same key until someone comes and gives me attention.’” Selene sighed. “I guess I’m happy they stopped annoying each other for a bit now.” She turned to look at her own house. “Talking about the boys. I just came to ask for some rice, actually. I am in the middle of preparing their lunch.”

“Oh, you should have said so immediately. Come in, I’ll get you some. How much do you need?” Afreya stepped aside to let Selene in first, before closing the door and setting off to the kitchen to gather some rice. Selene followed, continuing the conversation on their way in.

“Not too much. Just one bowl will be enough.” When looking around, she added another question. “I thought Jungsoo would be home today? He didn’t have any schedules today, did he?”

“No, he didn’t. He’s taking a nap on the couch. Seriously, that guy should get to bed earlier and get out later. I don’t know how he manages to stuff all his activities in the twenty-four hours there only are in a day.” Afreya complained, but she was smiling the whole time. “How’s your husband keeping up? Has he gotten used to the liveliness by now?”

“Yah, he’s keeping up fine. Ever since we went to go buy a dog he’s been satisfied. To say it in his words: ‘You have something you wanted and I have something I want as well. So we can both be happy now.’” Selene chuckled. “You won’t hear me complaining about that.”

“Did you guys finally decide about a name for the poor dog?” Afreya asked laughing, while pouring a bunch of rice into a bowl. Selene chuckled as well and nodded. “Tell me.”

“Well, we were still doubting a long time, but then he started being even more cute, so we settled for Yemin.” she explained.

“Yemin?”

“Yesung and Sungmin put together. Because he’s so cute, yet so weird. I mean.. He eats our curtains..” Afreya started laughing again, making her friend chuckle as well. She handed over the bowl of rice to Selene and smiled a little.

“Say hi to Jo Kwon oppa when you see him again. I’ll come say hello to the boys before I go home. It’s been a while since I’ve seen my godchild.” Afreya then said, walking Selene to the door again.

“True. Dongjae asked about you recently.” Selene replied with a smile. “But Jo Kwon oppa is coming over later today. Why don’t both you and Leeteuk hop by as well? Then you can say hi to Jo Kwon yourself and Kwon can see his godfather again. It’s been ages. He might not even recognize him anymore.” Afreya chuckled.

“I’ll kick his lazy butt out of the couch and bring him over, even if I have to drag him the ten meters to your doorstep.” Both girls laughed again and Selene had forgotten all about her earlier stress.

“Thanks for the rice, Afreya. I’ll see you later today then? He should be here at about 2 PM.”

“I’ll make sure to hop by.”

Selene waved once more at her friend, before walking back to her own house. When she opened the door, Yemin immediately came running towards her, sniffing at her feet only to sneeze, turn around again and run right back into the living room. Selene laughed as she closed the door again. When she made her way towards the kitchen, she noticed both of her boys nicely sitting at the dining table. A little surprised she looked from the four year old Kwon at the three year old Dongjae and back. When she looked up at the door leading to the kitchen, she noticed the reason for their model behaviour.

“Donghae oppa!” she said happily. “What brings you here?”

“Hyukjae’s car.” he replied with a grin, walking up to her to give her a hug. He was careful not to push the bowl of rice out of her hands. “I came to visit my two most favourite people in the world.”

“That’s very nice of you!” Selene said, smiling brightly as she walked into the kitchen. She greeted her cooking husband with a kiss, moving towards the rice cooker with her bowl of rice.

“He meant me and Dongjae.” Hyukjae mumbled, trying to provoke her.

“I know he did. Why do you say that? Do you not think it’s nice he’s visiting you and your son?” she said surprised, after which she turned to look at Donghae. “I’m sorry, oppa, but I think Hyukjae would rather have you not coming over for a visit again.”

“No, that’s not what I meant!” Hyukjae immediately protested, running over to Donghae to grab his arm so he couldn’t leave. While doing so, he also moved away from the food so that she could take care of it again. Selene took over the cooking with a smile.

“Of course not..” she said softly. “That’s what they all say.”

“Hey! Aren’t you supposed to be on my side?” Hyukjae pouted.

“If you wanted to have me on your side, then you should have done the exact opposite of marrying me.” she replied, looking up at him with a little teasing smile. He stuck out his tongue at her. Before she could react, however, Donghae had already given him a little push.

“Your kids are watching. Don’t teach them such things. It’s already bad enough that there’s one of you walking around on this world.” he reprimanded his friend. Hyukjae gave Donghae a sad look, but his response was cut off by the beeping of the rice cooker and the immediate cries for food from the two little boys. Selene took the casseroles and placed them on the table. As she put the finished rice in a bowl again, she looked up at Donghae.

“Are you eating with us?” she asked. He shrugged.

“If you don’t mind.” he then said, hesitating a little.

“Of course I don’t mind.” She smiled happily. “Just sit down and eat along. As long as you don’t show the boys bad table manners.”

“That would be Hyukjae’s job.” he replied, smiling brightly. Selene grinned as she put the bowl of rice on the table, immediately dishing up the boys. After serving everyone, including herself, she sat down and picked up her spoon to start eating.

When they finished eating, Selene cleared the table, put the things away in the dishwasher, cleaned up the kitchen and then prepared everything for when the guests would come. She got out all kinds of snacks and cookies, started making coffee and boiled water for tea. For the two boys, she just put cups on the table so that they could drink milk.

It felt quite nice to be able to do those things in silence, as normally the boys would be running around, trying to get a cookie already before they were allowed to. Now, Hyukjae and Donghae were playing with them in the living room. Once finished with preparations, she went to sit down on a chair and relax, but the moment her butt touched the chair, the doorbell rang. She immediately leaped up again and set for the door, knowing who would be behind it.

A wide smile had already brightened her whole face, a reaction she showed every time she met Jo Kwon. Luckily, her reaction when meeting Hyukjae consisted of a smile that was accompanied by the feeling of love for him. And sometimes, after not seeing him for a long while, she would even be waiting at the door until he came home. Those were things she didn’t do with Jo Kwon.

It had been strange at first to combine her love for Hyukjae with the urge she felt to be with Jo Kwon and often she had felt like she needed to choose between the two of them. However, after explaining the whole soul mates situation to Jo Kwon as well, because she believed he had the right to know, things had taken a turn for the better. Both of the men had always supported her and said that no matter what she did, they would accept it, so in the end they had all managed to get used to the weird jumble of feelings.

Selene realized that things might not have been so hectic and weird if K’Ae had never told them about the whole soul mates stuff, but she would also probably have lost Hyukjae that way, so she could never blame the girl for telling them. Besides, now that things did work out, it was somehow easier to deal with some of the weird moments, knowing that she didn’t always control her own feelings. The whole thing was an easy culprit to blame things on.

With those thoughts in her mind, she opened the door, looking right into the smiling face of the person she loved as much as if he were her real brother.

“Oppa!” she exclaimed, unconsciously sighing a little as she drank in the features of his face. It had been a while since she last saw him, since his schedule was as busy as ever. His smile widened and he opened his arms a little for her to step into his embrace, something she gladly did. They hugged each other for a while, savouring the calming effect the presence of the other had on them, but then Selene let go and stepped aside for him to enter.

“Dongjae, Kwonnie! Uncle is here! Come say hello!” she meanwhile called out. Immediately, the door to the hallway burst open and two hyperactive bombs of energy made their way into the hallway, happily yelling out ‘Uncle Kwon’ as they crashed into his legs and hugged them tightly. Selene chuckled, watching how Jo Kwon picked up his namesake and guided the other kid back into the house. Right when Selene wanted to close the door, she saw Leeteuk and Afreya coming out next door, so she waited for them to come in as well.

Ten minutes later, they were all spread around the table, the kids enjoying the possibility to eat as many cookies as they could without being reprimanded by their parents. Leeteuk and Afreya had taken place next to each other, across from where Hyukjae and Jo Kwon were sitting. The two kids sat next to one another as well and on the other side of the table were Selene and Donghae. Somewhere underneath the table, in between all their feet, Yemin had found a great spot to sleep. The atmosphere was a happy and relaxed one as they shared stories about their life.

Selene let her eyes scan over her family and closest friends, smiling happily. She felt like she couldn’t get any happier than she was, surrounded by loved ones without any problems in her life. That’s when Afreya suddenly grabbed Leeteuk’s hand and pulled the attention towards her by clearing her throat.

“I’m moving in with Leeteuk.” she said softly. Her eyes sparkled as people started congratulating her, but apparently she wasn’t done yet. “And I’m pregnant, so we’re getting married.”

Selene was too dazed to reply at first, but then she started grinning and joy for her friends happiness bloomed in her heart. Everyone started congratulating the two in a daze of blurted out words and nonsense, but then they all shut up and just grinned widely or smiled happily. The two kids just kept on eating cookies, staring at the noisy adults with wide eyes. For once they were the silent ones.

“That’s wonderful news, Afreya.” Selene finally said again. The others nodded as Afreya and Leeteuk shared a look and smiled at each other. Selene let her eyes wander from the new couple over her own children to stop at her husband. He looked up at her right at that moment and a bright smile lightened up both their faces.

It was right then and there that Selene realized life couldn’t get better.
