[FIC] Soulmates: Selene

Title: Soulmates: Selene
Characters: Eunhyuk, Jo Kwon, SJ, 2AM, OC
Rating: PG
Chaptercount: 2/22
Summary: One unexpected yet scheduled meeting brings with it the start of so much more.
A/N: The first story I wrote with Super Junior in it lol. I was a bit of a fan at that time and Hyukjae was the first member of Super Junior I knew. I gradually learned more about them as I wrote this story so if some things don't add up at all, don't blame me lol.

“Ohmo, oppa!” Afreya suddenly blurted out, speaking Korean for the first time that day. “I love your music. We’re very sorry for not recognizing you.” She immediately started bowing again and Selene couldn’t help but follow her example. How could they have been so stupid not to recognize him? How stupid did they look, being translators for famous people while not even recognizing a celebrity when they were face to face with one? Hyukjae tried to get them to stop bowing, but when that didn’t work, he sighed deeply.

“If you don’t stop bowing now I’m going to treat you like a sunbae.” he mumbled. The two girls immediately jerked their bodies upright and gave him a very tensed looks. Their professional attitude had disappeared completely due to the revelation of his true identity and their grave mistake. The moment she realized that, Selene tried to get her facial expressions under control again, taking a few deep breaths to calm down. “Thank you.” Hyukjae said relieved when they were finally calmed down again. At least they were for about five seconds.

“Could I get your autograph?” Afreya blurted out again, returning to speaking English, a language she knew much better than Korean. Selene gave her friend yet another reprimanding look. Afreya seemed to be having the day of days for blurting out inappropriate things. She was almost acting like any other fan girl. But in the end, wasn’t she just another fan girl? It wasn’t because they had been translating things for a bunch of celebrity’s already, that she couldn’t still be a huge fan of Super Junior. It was true that Afreya had mentioned the band a few times before, especially commenting about their great music style and singing skills. Oh and of course the big load of good-looking boys, not to forget.

“Of course.” Hyukjae answered very calmly, still using Korean and obviously not making a big deal of it. He was rather treating it like a little joke. “Where would you want it? On your arm? Your hand? Today’s schedule?”

“My arm would be nice.” Afreya answered, regaining her professional attitude as well, but still smiling a little.

“But then you can’t wash it for the rest of the week at the least.”

“I’ll just go to some tattoo shop and have them tattoo it on my arm.”

“Oh, what a great and well thought-out idea!” Hyukjae complimented, but he immediately added: “You’d want to be my property then?”

There was a short, awaiting silence, before Afreya chuckled. “Ok, maybe today’s schedule is a better place for you to sign.” she then said. Hyukjae laughed softly at those words. The friendly, yet a little teasing conversation between the two had broken the ice and the atmosphere was much more relaxed than it had been a few minutes before. Selene found herself taking a deep breath and smiling relieved.

“Maybe we should get this business over with.” she suggested. “Then you can both exchange idol-fan talk later, at least Hyukjae oppa’s company will be satisfied with our work then and we’ll hopefully get paid.” She felt like a mood killer to start about work and money, but there weren’t very much useful comments coming up in her head for the time being. Even though Hyukjae was taking the whole situation very lightly, she still felt embarrassed. Luckily she managed to hide it very easily, showing neither of the two others any bit of the faint insecurity that came along with the embarrassment.

Luckily Hyukjae agreed with her, so they all finally sat down. He offered them something to drink, which they gladly accepted. Once he had gotten the three cokes, the two girls started to order the papers and silently going over the things they would have to make sure to talk to him about. Within seconds, the whole awkward situation was erased from their minds and they focused solely on their job.

“So, what are your plans exactly for this vacation? Is there anywhere you want to go, anything you’d really like to see?” Selene asked, looking up at Hyukjae.

Afreya sat back, keeping out of the conversation a little once again. She would overhear and remind Selene of certain things when necessary, but since Korean wasn’t one of her best languages -more like she sucked at it- she wouldn’t talk a lot. Most other people found that hard to do, or very degrading. Afreya, however, had gotten used to it. There were times when Selene would talk more, but there were also times that she would be the one talking the most. It all depended on the language of their customer.

Thinking of which, Eunhyuk was even more good-looking in real than on TV. He had a very pretty face that was quite small and therefore could easily be taken for a girl’s, but his arms and body showed the right amount of muscles. The smile he had showed them a few times before was very honest and genuine, sometimes with a little hint of his shyness. All in all, Afreya had to admit that Eunhyuk was one very handsome guy, like about every member in Super Junior. How she remembered her unreachable teenage dreams of meeting them and what not, and now here she was, sitting face to face with one of her favourite members. How strange life could be.

She watched how her friend and the famous celebrity calmly discussed his vacation and the places he could go. There were a few places too dangerous for him to go because of a higher chance of being recognised. Not that they expected hundreds of fans, but he was supposed to have an undisturbed vacation, not a week of being hunted by hyperactive girls. After all, he had taken this vacation to get away from the busy celebrity life in Korea. Suddenly Afreya realized how happy he must have been to find two Asian girls that didn’t recognise him at first sight and just treated him like a normal person. They had been embarrassed over nothing, because he probably hadn’t cared at all about their mistake of not knowing him. Maybe it had even been a relief to him.

Afreya was so lost in her thoughts, that she didn’t notice the two others had ended the conversation until someone waved in front of her eyes. She blinked surprised and looked up, right into Eunhyuk’s smiling face. He took a step back when he noticed her attention was back with them, but it was obvious he thought the situation very funny. Maybe he was even laughing at her a little. She couldn’t help chuckling because of his bright expression.

“Nice to have you back with us.” he said, speaking Korean. Even though she kind of understood the language, she wasn’t really a fluent speaker, so she kept speaking English, creating a multiple language conversation.

“I’m sorry, I was thinking.”

“Obviously.” he replied, grinning. “Are we allowed to know about what?” Her cheeks flushed and she averted her eyes from his face.

“I was thinking that you must like going on a vacation without a bunch of fans following you around wherever you go.”

“Well I don’t really mind the fans, but simply having time for myself does feel very good.” He was still smiling and she couldn’t help smiling back when she looked up at him again.

“Finished with the schedule?” she then asked lightly. He nodded, so she got up and randomly grabbed a paper from the table, reaching it out to him with an awaiting expression. It took him a few seconds staring at the paper to realize what she meant. He then took the paper from her, took his pen and professionally signed the random schedule paper, even adding a few words ‘to a fan.’ When he gave it back, she looked at it, noticing that it was Korean. She would have to ask Selene later on to translate. When she thought of her friend, she looked up to look at her.

Selene was gathering the papers on the little table. Even though she hadn’t taken part in the conversation, she was smiling as well. Hyukjae had turned out a very easy person to discuss things with. He was very straight to the point and had listened to everything she said to him, taking all of her advice. Unlike some of the previous celebrities she had met, he didn’t think that she was less than him. His playful conversation with Afreya was proof of that as well.

When she had gathered all the papers and other stuff they had brought, she got up from the couch, immediately pulling all attention towards her. She smiled a little shyly and looked at the bunch of papers in her arms.

“I’m going to drop this off in our room and then get ready for my next appointment.” she said softly. “It’s in less than an hour, so I should go.”

“Isn’t that one with me?” Hyukjae immediately asked. “I am supposed to have another meeting in an hour with the same people as now. That would be you two if I’m not mistaken, right?”

“No, that meeting will be with just me.” Afreya mentioned, still using English to make herself understandable. Hyukjae turned to look at her, obviously surprised.

“Really?”

“Yes. This other person we were supposed to meet is Asian as well, but doesn’t speak English at all, so I am of no use there. That’s why we could manage two meetings at the same time.” Hyukjae nodded thoughtfully and seemed to understand what she meant. He turned back to Selene while speaking.

“I see.. Well, it was nice meeting you, ehm..” He fell silent, looking at her a little dumbfounded. The moment she realized why, she immediately felt like hitting herself.

“Ohmo, I’m so sorry. We didn’t even introduce ourselves!” she exclaimed, sharing a guilty look with Afreya. “My name is Selene Miyake and this is my friend and colleague Afreya Takahashi.” Offering her hand to him. He lightly shook it, with an amused smile on his face. His grip was firm, but friendly.

“Nice to meet you, Selene.” was his calm reply. She smiled back at him, without really knowing why, before taking the rest of the papers and walking towards the door.

“I will go with her.” Afreya suddenly said, following Selene towards the door, while still looking at Hyukjae. “I’ll see you in an hour, Eunhyuk.”

“Alright, Afreya, see you then.” He followed them towards the door, to show them out probably. Yet he suddenly started talking again. “By the way, Selene, how about a drink some time when you’re free? That is.. Are you staying here for long?” Selene was shocked by his very bold question, making it harder for her to come up with a normal reply.

“Eh.. We’re here today and tomorrow.”

“Cool. So how about a drink tomorrow?” He smiled at her, obviously hoping for a positive response. She noticed a very faint bit of sympathy when she had to partly reject him.

“Well, it depends on the person I’m meeting later on. I’m supposed to assist him or her for the rest of today and tomorrow and then we’ll leave.” she said, seeing his happy expression falter because of his disappointment. He didn’t even try to hide it, which made her think of a kid that didn’t get what it wanted. She tried to hide a smile by looking away. “But if this person is willing to let me go, we’ll go for a drink with you.” Immediately his expression brightened again, making him all the more cute than before. She felt a sudden urge to pinch his cheek and mess up his hair, but repressed it, knowing that it would probably result in a totally awkward situation.

“Great! I’ll see you tomorrow then!” Hyukjae happily exclaimed, not knowing anything of what was going on in her head, which might just be for the best. When she shared a look with her friend, she knew that Afreya was also trying her best not to freak over Hyukjae, but probably for much more ‘he’s so damn good-looking’-reasons. She chuckled a little, quickly looking at the young man again and nodding.

“If I’m able to come.”

“If not, please come say bye before you leave.” He said it so fast after she had spoken that it seemed like he had been waiting for her words, with his answer already prepared. Before she could start finding the situation even more weird, she walked out in the hallway, followed by Afreya.

“I’ll see you tomorrow then.” she said, feeling a little awkward. Hyukjae nodded, smiled at Afreya and then turned to walk into his room again. The moment he closed the door behind him, the two girls looked at each other and started giggling, quickly walking towards the elevator to avoid the possibility of him hearing them.

Once back in their room, Selene quickly changed her outfit to a tank top and a pair of shorts. She went to the bathroom to put her hair up in a ponytail and put on a little bit of make-up as well. For this meeting, she would have to go to the airport to guide the next person from there on. He had no knowledge of German whatsoever and his English wasn’t good either. That had been the only reason for Afreya to decide to try and do the meeting with Hyukjae on her own. She just couldn’t stand leaving someone all alone in an unknown country. Sometimes she was such a softie.

When her look was okay, Selene gathered her purse, car keys, schedule and lip balm and left the room after saying goodbye to Afreya. Using the rented car, she easily found her way to the airport, leaving the busy centre of the city behind her. It took a while to find a good parking spot, but in the end found one that wasn’t too far away from the exit of the airport. She quickly went inside, making her way to one of the shops to buy something to drink and a little snack. Carrying her treasure of candy and cookies, she took a seat at the gate where this new celebrity should arrive through. The mail had said that this person would be able to recognize her. She hoped they didn’t lie, because she had no idea how the two of them would find one another if that was not the case.

Since she had been about 15 minutes early, she was well through her package of chocolate chip cookies by the time the passengers arrived. She looked at all of the passing people, wondering who of them would be the one she would have to help the following day, but they all found those they were looking for or walked by without looking for anyone. In the end, she was the only one still sitting in the room, surrounded by lots of empty space, but no celebrity at all. After another ten minutes of waiting, because the person might be slow or something, she finally got up with a sigh and grabbed her purse.

Typical.. Now it would be hell to get these people to pay because no one had come, even though she had still wasted time and gas to get all the way to this damned airport. She really hated it when those rich ass celebrities thought they could just let someone run from them when it wasn’t needed. How hard could a phone call be? Just to let her know they weren’t coming, they missed their plane, they had a change of schedule, they lost their interest in vacation or whatever. It wasn’t like they didn’t have the money for it. Annoyed, she bit the head off a gummy bear as she walked away. Stupid idiots..

“Selene!” a voice behind her called out, making her jump up a little in surprise.
