She had been working in their dorms for a while now, taking care of the cleaning for them and sometimes also making dinner. Her dark hair would then be tied together into a ponytail, the only time that happened, and she would always hum a little melody while cooking. Whenever she would flick a few strands of stubborn hair back over her shoulder, she would glance at the boys in the living room for a moment and smile when one of them was looking her way. She was always very patient, bearing their many questions and never once scolding them when they messed up completely. Her name was Yumiko and compared to the noona’s around, she was like a breath of fresh air to the boys.

Especially Kyuhyun was infatuated by her. She was the first female in the dorm that was closer to his age than to his hyungs’. It intrigued him to be called oppa by someone who worked for him instead of being ‘taken care of’ by someone who reminded him too much of his mother. And of course she was pretty. Management just had to pick someone pretty. They couldn’t have found a young girl that was ugly to keep the members from falling in love, no, they just had to get someone who made his cheeks flush whenever she smiled at him and made his skin burn whenever she touched it. They just HAD to be that devilish.

But things weren’t going the turn out the way he thought they would, and if he had known that, he would never have gone up to her to ask her if she had anything to do that day. He would never have looked at her pretty smile and thought about how much he wanted to kiss those sweet lips. He would never have listened to her surprised voice telling him she was free all afternoon. Most importantly of all, he would never have invited her to go out into the city with him. Yet he didn’t know what would happen, so he did ask, he did look, he did listen and he did invite her. And there he was, hoping for a positive answer from her side.

“Are you serious?” she asked, eyes wide in surprise. After a few moments, the smile broke through her shock and she started nodding. “Oh, I would love to go out into the city, oppa!” He was delighted to hear those words, but moments after she said them, her face fell. He eyed her in wonder, waiting for the reason of her sudden sad expression. “Is it possible for you? I mean.. Won’t fans recognise you and such? Is it safe for you to go out into the city with a girl? I don’t want this to start a scandal or something..” He chuckled at her sudden waterfall of slightly panicked words.

“Don’t worry. You’re taking care of our dorm, right? When a scandal starts, we’ll just tell them that you’re helping me buy new clothes. It won’t even be a lie, because I’m in serious need of a new training to walk around in.”

Her smile reappeared again at his words, but there still seemed to be something bothering her. He waited patiently for her to voice her worries. Before she did that, however, she turned back to the fire and made sure the food wasn’t getting burnt. His eyes followed her every move from the moment she turned away until she turned back to him. He then looked at her expectantly with the friendliest smile he could manage.

“Would you mind if I brought someone along, though? I promised Yeoni I would spend some time with her today because it’s been so long since we were able to do something together..” she mumbled, gazing down at the ground with lightly flushed cheeks. It was adorable, yet beautiful at the same time. Looking at her totally beat staring at ugly monsters on his computer screen. He found himself smiling like a lovestruck idiot over that thought and quickly fixed his expression before answering her.

“Uh.. Of course I don’t mind! Why would I?” Because they would not be going out alone anymore. The friend would be hovering around them and he might even become the third wheel on the bike. That’s when another idea brightened his mind and he added: “I could bring another member as well then if you’d like? I’m sure Hyukjae hyung or Heechul hyung wouldn’t mind coming along. Or maybe they would.. It’s their free day too. Let’s see.. Who wouldn’t mind going out to the city to shop for a training with me..?”

“I’d say Jungsoo oppa, but he really needs to get some sleep. We shouldn’t wake him up to go out shopping. How about Sungmin oppa?” she suggested when he didn’t seem to find anyone. Her words made the smile return to his face as he saw the potential in them.

“Sungmin hyung! What a wonderful idea!” he exclaimed, immediately running off to go ask his roommate if he wanted to go out to the city with the three of them. Sungmin gladly accepted, saying he needed some things as well anyway, so Kyuhyun happily went back to tell Yumiko the good news. When he entered the kitchen, however, she was on the phone with someone. Probably that Yeoni friend of hers, to ask if she was okay with going to the city.

“You sure you don’t mind?” Yumiko just asked the person on the other line when he walked through the door. She looked up at him and smiled a moment, before focusing on stirring the rice she was cooking again. “Okay, that’s great! I’ll see you in an hour then? We’ll meet at the same place as usual.” She smiled at something that was said by her friend, before nodding. “Yes. See you later, hun.” When she hung up, she turned to him. “Sungmin’s coming as well?” He nodded. “It’s settled then!” Her bright smile was infectious, so he happily smiled back without noticing.

That’s how they ended up in the city about an hour later. Yumiko was walking in between him and Sungmin. They were both wearing a slight disguise as to try and not be recognised too quickly. They headed towards the train station, where they would meet up with Yeoni. Kyuhyun had no idea what the girl looked like, so he didn’t even bother to search for her, but when Yumiko suddenly started waving and broke into a little run, he followed the direction she went in with his eyes.

A cute-looking, dark-haired girl was waving back at Yumiko. She started to run towards the other girl herself and the two of them met at what was about the middle of the distance in between them. When they reached each other, they happily hugged and let out a few cries of ‘I missed you’ and ‘How good to see you.’ As their arms were wrapped around each other, they hugged like friends who hadn't seen each other for a long time. Then Yeoni did something that made every cell in his brain stop working. She let go of Yumiko a little and leaned in to peck the other one on the lips.

Kyuhyun froze in shock and stared at the scene displayed in front of him for a moment, before looking at Sungmin. It was obvious that his hyung also had not at all expected something to the likes of what had happened. Before either of them could say anything, however, Yumiko already walked back up to them, smiling brightly as she pulled the Yeoni girl along with her.

“Oppas! This is Yeoni. Yeoni, these are Kyuhyun and Sungmin.” she introduced the three to each other. Yeoni waved happily at them with her left hand, as her right hand was comfortably holding Yumiko’s. Kyuhyun swallowed, trying to talk, but it didn’t really work.

“Nice to meet you, Kyuhyun oppa, Sungmin oppa.” Yeoni said, bowing slightly with a happy smile on her face. When she straightened her body again, she looked at Yumiko. “So we’re going to go shop, right?”

“Yes! Kyuhyun oppa needs a new training and I believe Sungmin oppa needed some things as well, right?” the older girl answered. She didn’t even wait for a reply from the boys before turning to look at the shopping street. “Let’s go!” she exclaimed, walking off together with Yeoni. The two boys were left behind to watch the couple go.

“I feel sorry for you, Kyu.” Sungmin mumbled, patting the maknae’s shoulder in sympathy.

Kyuhyun could only sigh. “I guess I’ll become gay.” he said, turning to look at his friend. “You don’t have a girlfriend at the moment, do you, hyung?”

The moment Sungmin realised what his dongsaeng was implying, his eyes grew wide and he quickly ran off to catch up with the girls, leaving a smirking Kyuhyun to follow after him.
