Title: Soulmates: Selene
Characters: Eunhyuk, Jo Kwon, SJ, 2AM, OC
Rating: PG
Chaptercount: 19/22
Summary: One unexpected yet scheduled meeting brings with it the start of so much more.
A/N: The first story I wrote with Super Junior in it lol. I was a bit of a fan at that time and Hyukjae was the first member of Super Junior I knew. I gradually learned more about them as I wrote this story so if some things don't add up at all, don't blame me lol.

“Of course not. Why would I be together with someone like her? She wouldn’t be able to endure my personality for even a day, let alone live up to the standards of being Kim Heechul’s girlfriend.” the arrogant answer came. Selene wanted to hit the self-assured smirk that she was sure he’d show from his face, but she was supposed to be asleep. While she was still debating whether to reveal her state of being awake or not, there suddenly was the sound of two bodies crashing into each other and Heechul made a surprised noise.

“One more word about Afreya..” another voice said, sounding dangerously angered. A shocked silence came over the room and Selene couldn’t keep herself from glancing up from under her eyelashes. Leeteuk was holding Heechul by his sweater and glared at his friend. Their faces weren’t even five centimetres apart from one another. The tension in the room was at a maximum. In the end, Leeteuk let go of Heechul by pushing him back a little and walked out of her sight. She quickly closed her eyes again not to be caught. A door was being closed a little harder than really needed, but Selene imagined Leeteuk had put a lot of effort into keeping himself in check just not to wake her. The thought of his caring for others made her feel very bad for him. Why couldn’t Afreya just like him back?

“Well.. Selene’s soundly asleep for sure.” Heechul said after a long silence. He cleared his throat, after which she heard footsteps. He probably walked to the place where Leeteuk had sat to take the place. She was again still deciding if it was time for her to ‘wake up’ or not when the sound of a door opening came, followed by the sound of footsteps.

“Mianhe.” Leeteuk said softly when the footsteps stopped. She could clearly imagine his apologetic face in her mind and her heart hurt to think of it. “I overreacted.” Selene couldn’t take it anymore, so she moved a little and slowly opened her eyes. The first thing she saw was the image of Leeteuk and Heechul hugging. It eased her heart a bit, but there still was the urge in her to give Heechul a few good punches.

“You should not be the one apologizing, hyung.” Heechul’s whispered answer came, almost not understandable, but still there. The sincere apology in his voice eased Selene’s anger, leaving her with only sadness for Leeteuk. She blinked a few times and slowly lifted her head a bit.

“What did you do wrong again this time?” she asked with a sharp tone in her voice. All heads turned to look at her. She noticed it apparently wasn’t the whole group who had come. There was only Leeteuk, Heechul, Hangeng and Kyuhyun in her sight.

“Nothing much. He was simply being Heechul again.” Hangeng answered her question, giving her a little smile.

“Good morning, by the way, Selene-ssi.” Someone then startled her by speaking from behind her. She turned around so fast that she had to grab Hangeng’s shoulder to keep herself from falling out of the couch. With wide eyes she looked at Shindong who was standing behind the couch. Next to him was Donghae. She quickly glanced around the room, to make sure there was no one else who could scare her any more. “Or should I say good evening.” Shindong meanwhile continued, smiling happily. She turned back to face him, slowly feeling herself calm down again.

“Good evening.” she replied, moving her eyes from Shindong to Donghae and then turning around to look at all the other members. “What are you all doing here?”

“Congratulating you two on making it official. Want to know how many hateful comments the fans have made?” Heechul answered happily, the little smirk appearing on his face again.

“I suggest you keep your comments for yourself a bit, hyung.” Hangeng answered. Even though he didn’t sound angry or reprimanding, when Heechul glanced at his friend, he immediately averted his gaze to the ground and shut up. Leeteuk who had meanwhile went to sit on the arm of the couch, put a hand on his friend’s shoulder. Selene couldn’t help noticing once again how quickly he forgave others and how caring he was even after being angry at Heechul himself just before that.

“No, but seriously. You guys finally made it official.” Hangeng then continued the start of his friend’s words. “That’s so cool. I didn’t think you’d ever find the courage to, though, Selene.”

“Yah well. It had nothing to do with my courage. I just let Hyukjae do what he wanted to do.” she replied, thereby turning to the one she was talking about. It was the first time she looked at him since being awake and her eyes grew in surprise when she saw him. He had smiled at first, but upon seeing the change in her expression he frowned.

“What’s wrong?” he asked, seeming worried. She looked around at the others, who were eyeing her interestedly. They didn’t seem to have noticed anything odd about Hyukjae. A little embarrassed she leaned closer to him to hug him, bringing her mouth next to his ear to be able to mumble something to him without others hearing it.

“Why are you wearing one of my T-shirts?” He looked down upon hearing her question and immediately started blushing. She went to sit on his lap to be able to continue the private conversation. He pressed a kiss on her lips before answering.

“I took a short shower before, but my T-shirt got wet so I borrowed one of yours for a bit. I didn’t realize I was still wearing it. I’m sorry.” he replied, whispering as well. She noticed the other members looking at them. At least those in her sight did so. Those being Hangeng, Donghae and Shindong. A little smile appeared on her face as she rested her cheek against his neck.

“It’s okay. You look sexy.” she said, a little louder now. She noticed how Hangeng rose an eyebrow and smiled innocently.

“Our Hyukkie looks sexy?” Leeteuk asked surprised. “I can hardly believe it.” Selene chuckled and let go of her boyfriend to jump up from the couch.

“Ah, Leeteuk-ssi!” she exclaimed, happily running towards him to hug his neck and ruffle through his hair very informally. She was glad to see a smile appear on his face. “You should be happy to know that there is at least one sexy Sukira DJ then.” Her words brought laughter to all of them and she couldn’t help hugging Leeteuk again upon seeing his playful insulted expression.

“Hey, watch out, you’re going to choke him to death!” Heechul commented, pushing her arm to get her to let go of Leeteuk.

“At least with me he still feels loved.” she replied, using the most informal language she could come up with. As she looked up at Heechul, she tried to use the most vicious look she could manage. The response was immediate.

“You disrespectful..” he started, already getting up to hit her or whatever, but she didn’t even let him finish that line.

“Yes, I am disrespectful. What are you going to do about it? Hit me? Even if you kill me I will just come back as a disrespectful ghost.” she countered. The silence that followed her words was deafening. Even though Heechul stared at her, she just stared back. They kept it serious for a few seconds before bursting out in laughter. “Ah that felt good.” she said, chuckling as she let go of Leeteuk to give Heechul a neck-hug as well. He ruffled through her hair, but she couldn’t care less as it had already been a mess after sleeping on the couch.

“Eunhyuk-ah.” Heechul then said, turning his gaze to his dongseng. “I’d take good care of her if I were you, or I might just steal her away. I like her temper.” He grinned over a joke only he understood and simply pulled her on his lap, not caring if she liked that or not.

“You mean she can actually live up to the standards of being Kim Heechul’s girlfriend?” Kyuhyun said jokingly. Selene quickly pulled free from Heechul’s grip and skipped back to the couch, jumping in next to Hyukjae, to put her arms around his middle and let her chin rest on his shoulder.

“Even if I can live up to those standards, whatever they may be, I’d rather marry a dead Hyukjae than spend one second as Kim Heechul’s girlfriend.” she replied.

“Eww, imagine that smell.” Shindong immediately commented. “It’s already so strong now, let alone when he is dead.”

“Oh, poor Selene. Are you sure about this?” Donghae added, giving her a worried look. Selene, however, was too absorbed by her new discovery to react to their words. Hyukjae’s smell had changed a little. She grabbed the T-shirt to smell it. Even though it didn’t smell like him, it wasn’t exactly what she was looking for. She continued her search by lifting his arm a little and smelling his armpit. Hyukjae immediately pulled his arm down again and leaned away from her. When she looked up at him in surprise, she saw his obvious embarrassment.

“Selene, what are you doing?” he asked, blushing an awful lot. She raised an eyebrow and shook her head, sighing as if he was making things much more embarrassing than they were. She pulled him closer again and continued her search for the unknown smell. It was not the T-shirt, it wasn’t his armpit either, she was not going to smell much lower than that since there were still other members watching, so the only place left was his face. A little indecisive she looked at his face a moment. She took his chin in her hand and turned his face from left to right. Again he interrupted her by pulling his head away. “Really, what are you doing?”

“She looks a lot like my mother whenever she thought I had smoked or taken drugs.” Heechul commented. Selene looked at him in wonder a moment.

“Well, something smells off about you.” she finally spoke again, turning back to Hyukjae. “But I can’t seem to find what exactly it is.” Her words made all the members get up and walk closer to smell Hyukjae himself.

“He actually smells less bad than normal.” Shindong was again the one to comment first, sounding genuinely surprised. The others nodded and everyone looked at Hyukjae expectantly. He was blushing like crazy, feeling very embarrassed with everyone staring at him like that. He suddenly got up and shook his head.

“Aish, really, what is wrong with you people?” he exclaimed annoyed, trying to cover up for his embarrassment like that as he pushed his way through them to sit down in the other couch. Selene followed right behind him, sitting down next to him again. “I told you I showered.” he said, giving her an accusatory look.

“You mean you normally don’t?” she replied, smiling and stroking through his hair to calm him down. “It’s not that, it’s something else.”

“Do you really have to smell at me like a dog to find out?” he replied, but while he talked she leaned closer again to smell his breath.

“Ha!” she exclaimed proudly, having found the origin of the unknown smell. “What did you eat?”

“What?” Hyukjae stared at her with a baffled expression. She just looked back with a bright smile on her face. He looked at her as if she was crazy, rolled his eyes and sighed. “I ate some rice cakes.” he then said. “Is that forbidden these days?”

“There are rice cakes here?” Selene asked surprised, looking forward to eating some herself. She had already forgotten all about Hyukjae’s changed smell, as if the riddle had been solved.

“There were, but Yesung is probably eating the last ones now.” Hyukjae was still looking at her with that ‘you are truly crazy’ expression, but she didn’t even notice it.

“Yesung is here?” she replied happily, jumping up from the couch. “Why did no one tell me?”

“Because you didn’t ask.” was Donghae’s smart comment. She stuck out her tongue in his general direction, before skipping to the kitchen to find Yesung and hopefully some leftover rice cakes as well. When she entered the kitchen, she was happy to find a plate with still some rice cakes on it. She happily bounced towards the table, throwing her arms around Yesung’s body and hugging him tightly.

“Hello, my most favourite person in the whole world. Do you have some rice cakes left for me? Please say you do. I will love you forevermore.” she happily said.

“Hey, what about me!?” Hyukjae called from the other room, but she wisely ignored him.

“I do have some leftover rice cakes, actually.” Yesung replied. “Hello Selene. Have one.” He reached the plate out to her and she excitedly took all three leftover rice cakes.

“Thank you very much, Yesung oppa.” she said, happily walking back into the living room, leaving Yesung with the empty plate.

“Why are you leaving me? I thought you would love me forevermore?” he complained.

“I’m sorry, did I forgot to mention I would love you forevermore until you were out of rice cakes?” she called over her shoulder, making her way back to the couch to sit down next to Hyukjae and making herself comfortable resting against his side. Yesung walked into the living room as well, looking very down and left behind. She smiled and waved at him, while contently eating her rice cakes.

“I think we better leave these two weird people.” Heechul commented. The whole group, who was still just standing at the couch where she and Hyukjae had sat a little before, nodded in response.

“That might not be such a bad idea.” Shindong agreed.

“We’ll see you in a while, Selene.” Leeteuk mumbled. Selene nodded and got up to give them all a hug as goodbye. She started with Kyuhyun and ended with Yesung, even though she skipped Heechul, only giving him a disgusted look that made him grin again. When hugging Yesung, she mumbled a short sorry and offered him half of the last rice cake. He kindly declined before walking out the door. When the door closed behind him, Selene put the last rice cake in her mouth and walked back to the couch. She sat down on Hyukjae’s lap, leaning against his chest and happily closing her eyes. When he put his arms around her, she opened one eye to look at him.

“So you also used my deodorant?” she asked. He grinned sheepishly as he nodded.
